We had so much fun with soil! We collected soil samples, discussed what is in soil, discussed why soil is important, and even learned about and observed real worms! The kids loved learning that part of soil is poop. Gotta love 1st grader! We are going to use our soil samples to plant Lima beans later on in the year.
Pumpkin day was a huge success! We spent lots of time learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin, pumpkin types, and how pumpkins decompose. On pumpkin day, the kids measured their pumpkins, checked if they would float or sink, and wrote adjectives about them. They even tasted different pumpkin food items. Everyone loved the pumpkin candy...not too many loved mashed pumpkin in a can...shocking! We even dug the seeds out of big pumpkins and counted them! The last thing we did was decorate our pumpkin with our 3rd grade buddies. The kids did a fabulous job! Thank you to ALL the amazing parents who helped with pumpkin day!
I love being a teacher! This is my 6th year, and I love to watch these amazing kiddos grow right in front of my eyes. I am privileged to provide them with hands on learning experiences that will help them love learning. Have fun taking a peek into our classroom!
