We love our grandparents! On Friday our grandparents came in to read with us. This was so cool to see! The kids were so engaged and excited to hear books read by their loved ones. We hope they come see us more often! : ) Thanks to all who came to read with us!
Heroes are all around us in our community! Heroes are firefighters, nurses, and teachers, too...but don't forget EVERYONE can be a hero (even you!) We had an AMAZING Karate instructor from Saldivar Martial Arts come speak to us about discipline (doing what is right with out being told). Mr. Saldivar says that when you have discipline, you are a hero! We also had Mr. Brent from the NAVY come speak to us about making good choices.
This week in math, we explored with counting bear manipulatives, dominoes, dot cards, and more. They AMAZED me with the things they were doing. They were sorting by size and color, making patterns, counting them, and comparing them. I see the makings of mathematicians in here!
This was a very exciting day in our classroom! We learned about what a scientist does, and we even got to experience the life of a scientist by MEASURING, OBSERVING, EXPERIMENTING, ASKING QUESTIONS, etc. We learned that WE are scientists when we are exploring the world in our every day lives. Enjoy seeing the fun we had!
What a great week it was! Our first week together was full of smiles, laughing, and hugs. We spent lots of time getting to know each other. We drank jitter juice together to get the jitters out, ate lunch together every day, and played a variation of musical chairs (instead of someone being out- everyone has to fit!) Enjoy the pictures of our first days in first grade!
I love being a teacher! This is my 6th year, and I love to watch these amazing kiddos grow right in front of my eyes. I am privileged to provide them with hands on learning experiences that will help them love learning. Have fun taking a peek into our classroom!
