We loved learning all about how two consonants come together to make a new sound (like sl, tr, dr, pl, etc.) We loved making a class PowerPoint of blend words! Enjoy!
Thank you to Ms. Brauchle for helping make Valentine's day a ton of fun! We got to make heart hats, graph conversation heart candy, and drink a fun pink fuzzy drink with a red twizzler straw!
We have had a blast with shapes! We have built shapes using a variety of materials. They are little mathematicians! Maybe they will grow up and become architects! Enjoy seeing their hard work with some difficult tasks.
We had so much fun learning all about plants and animals! We spent a few weeks learning all about plants (parts of a plant, what plants need, how they are similar and different, etc.) We compared seeds in different types of fruits and vegetables. Then we ate different parts of the plant! Next we planted Lima beans and watched them grow! Not everyone's bean grew, but that's ok : ) Next we transitioned into how animals use plants just like we do! We watched how crickets eat carrots. Then we learned how animals even eat other animals! Ms. Brauchle got a frog for us to observe eating the crickets. So much great learning going on!! Now we know all about the food chain!
We thought a little about things we would like to do before we turn 100. Then we used a special app that made us look like we are 100. Super cute! Scroll over the buttons and then click play to hear them reading their writing!
We love being able to spend time with our 5th grade buddies. Today we paired up and created three-dimensional shapes as well as showed off our superb reading skills to our friends in Ms. Demers class. Fun fact: our class hamster, Echo, was nervous around the big 5th graders and tried to run and hide. I guess it's safe to say that first grade is everyone's favorite!
We made it to the 100th Day of School! We celebrated in lots of ways. We raced to see who could write their name the most times in 100 seconds. We made 100 fruit loop necklaces, built 100 cup structures, painted 100 dots, made 100 item crown hats, and even wrote about what we will do before we turn 100 years old. (More on that coming soon!)
I love being a teacher! This is my 6th year, and I love to watch these amazing kiddos grow right in front of my eyes. I am privileged to provide them with hands on learning experiences that will help them love learning. Have fun taking a peek into our classroom!
